Exhibit 2: Patientory,  a healthcare records startup with no track record of its own

Patientory recently ICO'd at $, and currently, less than a month later, has a market cap north of $20m (after peaking at $60m in-between). Its CEO has less than four years of professional work experience and a non-technical background (she has an MA in business management and dual BAs in Africana studies/Spanish), and is running a company whose market cap went from $ to $60m in a single month, despite not having a finished product or revenue, much less profit.

The leaders of the workshop at IIT did not feel that it was necessary to teach moral theory to students. Instead they included, a day-long introduction to moral theory in the EAC workshops to help instructors gain enough background to feel confident that they did not need to know more to integrate ethics into their technical courses. This instruction also helped participants to see, as Michael Davis describes in his explanation of the workshops in Ethic and the University, “In particular, they [the instructors] should notice the dialectic of criticism and the correction by which seemingly radically different theories ended up (in the hands of an expert) giving much the same answer to practical questions.” ( 5 ) In other words, these theories offer some differing frameworks for thinking about ethical issues, and potentially for guiding discussions.

An ethical dilemma that I faced was when I was in the Marines and I was checking out military vehicles to certain Marines so they could do their duties – and when I was doing this, one of the drivers didn’t have his license. This was tough situation for me because this certain driver was the only person that could driver this certain truck – so I was stuck with the situation of either letting him drive without the license and possibly getting in trouble and possibly him getting in trouble with driving without a license or the possibility of him getting in trouble for not being able to do his duty.

Stanford sinologist David Shepherd Nivison , in The Cambridge History of Ancient China , writes that the moral goods of Mohism "are interrelated: more basic wealth, then more reproduction; more people, then more production and wealth ... if people have plenty, they would be good, filial, kind, and so on unproblematically." [23] The Mohists believed that morality is based on "promoting the benefit of all under heaven and eliminating harm to all under heaven". In contrast to Bentham's views, state consequentialism is not utilitarian because it is not hedonistic or individualistic. The importance of outcomes that are good for the community outweigh the importance of individual pleasure and pain. [25]

As we sat in his office, we had to take our principal’s earlier discussion about moral dilemmas and apply it to an actual situation. If there is one thing in life I value most it is honesty. Each person has the responsibility to approach the many challenges he or she encounters with integrity—and just as important, each person has choice. My friend who had plagiarized was cheating her classmates, herself, and our school. And she was unwilling to listen to any of us, knowing that her grade would affect ours. So we made the difficult decision.
